We are well into hurricane season and it is time to provide a refresher on hurricane safety and preparation. We have been fortunate over the past number of years. The last hurricane over a category 3 was in 2005–we all remember Wilma. Will this year end the streak? There’s no way of knowing. Even during an inactive season, a single storm can leave its mark on history (think Andrew in 1992). Conversely, very active seasons like 2010 can yield no landfalls for the U.S. Within the season, the core months of Aug.-Sep.-Oct. comprise roughly 78% of the season’s total hurricane activity.

Remember The Key Terms

Important – once a Warning has been issued for our community insurance cannot be bound. If you are involved in closing on a new home, we recommend binding coverage early, especially in hurricane season.
